Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

We believe in the diversity of thought and perspectives. We believe in equitable practices and inclusionary environments where every individual is able to thrive as themselves. But, we also believe in justice – a practice that encourages the dismantling of barriers that have historically impacted Black, Indigenous, People of Color.

Placing justice at the forefront was also intentional – it is inextricably linked to our mission and our work. So, we start with our people, because our staff are from the very communities that we serve. From workplace policies to holiday giveaways, every decision is made from a lens of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. And it is through our JEDI efforts that we are committed to building an equitable workforce, starting with our people.

WHAT DOES THE JEDI COUNCIL DO?

NHF’s JEDI Council is responsible for the ongoing development of programming and events that educate and engage staff in activities surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion across racial groups, particularly Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) as well as other under-represented groups. Below are some of the tools we employ to execute our JEDI strategies.

National Health believes justice, equity, diversity and inclusion is essential to accomplishing our mission and maximizing our impact. Understanding the current manifestations of racism and oppression will enable us to most effectively improve the health of under-resourced communities. As one of our six core values, JEDI shapes our governance, strategies, programs, operational activities, and advocacy efforts. We recognize the work of JEDI is a journey and our commitment is unwavering.
